Splash Town

Boasting several waterslides, a large tipping bucket, wading pool and water mushrooms, it’s hard to believe Moonta Bay’s Splash Town waterpark is free to the public, but it is. Located about 165km from Adelaide, the waterpark is along the Moonta Bay foreshore on Yorke Peninsula’s Copper Coast. It’s open daily from 11am to 6pm until 1 May, but be sure to check the Splash Town – Copper Coast Facebook page for the opening hours, which are subject to change due to inclement weather and maintenance works.

Victoria Square/Tarntanyangga
Adelaide

In the heart of the city, Victoria Square is a popular spot for families looking to relax and cool off. Since undergoing redevelopment in 2014, the square features a ‘splash zone’ with water sprouting from the ground, which kids (and the young at heart) love to run through. Parents can keep a close watch from the nearby steps or grassed areas.

Playford Alive Town Park

Separate water play areas will offer hours of entertainment for the whole family at the Playford Alive Town Park, located in Adelaide’s northern suburbs. This is a large space, which also boasts an adventure playground, complete with slides, flying fox, and rope climb. There’s also a toddler playground, sand pit, as well as a basketball court, skate park, skate bowl, barbecues and shelter.

Glenelg and Henley beaches

The beautiful, iconic suburbs of Glenelg and Henley, located in Adelaide’s west, are world-class for their beaches, but they’re also renowned for their water play areas. Glenelg features water fountains in the main square as well as water pumps at the playground along the esplanade. At Henley, a huge water play zone sits in the heart of the square, surrounded by cafes, restaurants and seating, all overlooking the jetty.

Wudinna Apex Park

Centrally located next to the town’s swimming pool, Wudinna’s Apex Park features a splash pad that’s open during the summer months and operated by a self-serve button. The Park, on the Eyre Peninsula, also boasts a large playground, jumping pillow, pump track, exercise equipment, sheltered tables and chairs, and barbecue facilities.

Tusmore Park wading pool
Stirling St, Tusmore

Currently undergoing an upgrade, but a waterpark to visit once complete, the Tusmore Park wading pool has been a much-loved community attraction for more than 50 years. Scheduled for completion in 2022, the refurbishment will include a new wading pool with a creek-style section, water play equipment, tiered seating and fencing.
