New figures have revealed a 32% increase in mobile speed camera offences in South Australia over the last financial year.
Mobile speed cameras in the northern Adelaide suburb of Dry Creek recorded the most speeding violations in 2020-21, with almost 5000 offences committed, according to South Australian Police (SAPOL) figures obtained by RAA.
The city of Adelaide and its neighbouring suburb of North Adelaide weren’t far behind though, recording 4757 and 2868 expiations respectively.

RAA Senior Manager of Safety and Infrastructure Charles Mountain says the increase in speeding offences, partly in the northern suburbs, is due to a strong police presence on the Northern Connector, which opened in March last year.
“The figures are a timely reminder to South Australian motorists to keep an eye on the speedo wherever they may be travelling and remain within the posted speed limits, particularly in the lead up to the Labour Day long weekend,” Mr Mountain says.
“Motorists are not only risking a fine but also their lives and those of other road users when they break speed limits.
“There’s no valid reason to speed in any suburb – anywhere or at any time.”
