This time of year is always packed with fun things to do. We round up the 5 events worth checking out as November gets underway.
Ikara and Langmeil Gourmet Weekend
When: 9–11 November
Where: Wilpena Pound Resort, Flinders Ranges
A 5-course Flinders feast paired with local drops sounds like a pretty good way to spend a weekend – especially when you’re hanging out in a luxurious tent in the outback. Take your taste buds on an adventure from one region to the next as Barossa Valley winemakers from Langmeil Wines showcase a selection of wines alongside a unique menu created by Ikara-Safari Camp in the Flinders Ranges.
Credit Union Christmas Pageant
When: 10 November
Where: Starts at the corner of King William St and South Tce
Waking up early to watch the annual Credit Union Christmas Pageant on TV is a must-do, but it doesn’t quite capture the excitement of being there among the crowds of people as they wait patiently for a glimpse of the big man in red. That’s why a visit to see the colourful floats, bands, dancers and clowns in person will help get you in the festive spirit.
Handpicked Festival
When: 10 November
Where: Lake Breeze Wines, Langhorne Creek
From the musicians and local artisans to the food, each element of this event has been handpicked with the festivalgoers in mind. That’s what makes this Fleurieu Peninsula festival unique – there’s something for everyone. Spend your day stretched out on a picnic blanket, sipping some of the finest drops from Langhorne Creek’s Lake Breeze Wines, or blend into the sea of people rocking out in the mosh pit.
Lifesaving World Championships 2018
When: 16 November–2 December
Where: 2 Barcoo Rd, West Beach
Who knew saving lives could be a sport? Head down to West Beach where the biennial Lifesaving World Championships will bring together the most talented and skilled surf and rescue people. Watch the simulated emergency response competitions, surf boat racing and, of course, the Iron Man event as the athletes compete for the title of world’s best lifesaver.
Yoga, wine, yes please!
When: 18 November
Where: Plant 4 (5 Third St, Bowden)
We never thought we’d say it – exercising on a Sunday isn’t so bad after all. Especially if it’s at an event dedicated entirely to yoga and drinking wine. This unique Sunday session starts with a yoga class hosted by Sara from The Om Studio, and is followed by live music, wine and nibbles.
