The State Election is only days away and South Australians have an important decision to make.
Here, Premier Steven Marshall and Opposition Leader Peter Malinauskas explain what their parties will do over the next four years.
Steven Marshall
SA Premier
The Marshall Liberal Government is building what matters to South Australia with a record $17.9 billion spend on infrastructure.
We’re creating thousands of jobs, making our roads safer and supporting our tourism industry to thrive as we bounce back from the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Our state has done extraordinarily well and the future is looking bright.”
A huge project that will underpin SA’s construction industry for the next decade is the Torrens to Darlington Project – the long-awaited final section of the North–South Corridor, a project my government is immensely proud to be delivering.
The $9.9 billion project will create nearly 5000 jobs during the peak and will unlock the city’s traffic network – transforming Adelaide and the way we move around it.
We’re also spending $2.8 billion on our regional roads to make them safer and to improve freight productivity. We want South Australians to spend less time sitting in traffic and more time doing what they love.
The tourism sector will be ready to thrive once cross border and international travel resumes at pace, and on track to reach our 2030 ambition of a $12.8 billion industry.
Peter Malinauskas
SA Labor Leader
The COVID-19 pandemic presents a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to build a better and more productive South Australia. We must seize this moment.
I’m determined that the suite of policies I take to the people of South Australia in March are not just for the next election, but for the next generation. Roads, infrastructure and tourism will play a key role in our state’s future.
In recent years, there’s been a lot of talk about road and infrastructure projects – think Globelink, the Main South Rd duplication and the infamous right-hand tram turn. In each and every circumstance, this talk has been just that – talk.
We don’t need more talk; we need genuine leadership and action.”
You can be sure that the roads, infrastructure and tourism policies I announce between now and the election will be well considered, funded and will actually be delivered.
Just look at Labor’s record. We didn’t just talk about infrastructure. We delivered projects like the duplication of the Southern Expressway, the O-Bahn City Access Tunnel, the Adelaide Oval and the new Royal Adelaide Hospital.
In 30 years’ time, I hope our children can say this generation saw the moment and seized the moment.
