One lucky RAA fan got the surprise of his life recently when the Road Service team dropped by with a special gift.
Casey, of Salisbury Heights, was planning to have an RAA-themed party at the park for his 4th birthday, but due to COVID-19 restrictions it had to be cancelled.
When RAA’s Road Service team heard about Casey’s plight they decided to surprise him with a drive-by party on their day off.
Undeterred by wet and windy conditions, 3 vans rolled past Casey’s house with a special birthday message before stopping to say hello.
They delivered a goodie bag, including an RAA vest, and gave Casey a tour of the road service van before having a bit of birthday cake and posing for a few (socially distanced) photos.
Casey’s mum Jemma said he loved the surprise and hadn’t stopped wearing his RAA vest since he received it almost a week ago.
“Casey’s been a fan of the RAA for almost two years,” she said.
“The only reason we can put it down to is that I had the RAA come out one day because I had a flat battery and he’s seemed to love them ever since.
I was over the moon to see how above and beyond the RAA went to surprise Casey.”
Patrol Team Leader Trevor Pursche, who helped organise the special gift for Casey, said it was a privilege to be able to make his birthday a little brighter.
“It was a great experience to be able to bring joy to someone,” Mr Pursche said.
“Casey was stoked and had a massive smile on his face.”
