Love is well and truly in the air. Don’t be fooled though – Cupid has his eye on everyone. Whether you’re one part of a loved-up couple or riding solo, here are 5 ways to spoil that special someone, or yourself, this Valentine’s Day.
1. Watch a movie under the stars
Best suited for: everyone – singles, couples, friends and families
This Valentine’s Day, ditch the traditional movie night. Instead, go on a different kind of date at the Moonlight Cinema in Botanic Park.
Take your loved ones to see a blockbuster on the big screen. The movie screening on 14 February – psychological thriller Joker – isn’t your typical soppy film, but it’ll still get your heart pumping. Pack a picnic rug and some nibbles and you’re all set.
RAA member exclusive: There’s still time to catch a flick after Valentine’s Day as Moonlight Cinema’s 2020 season closes on 16 February. Best of all, you can get $13 tickets just for being an RAA member.
2. Go out on the town
Best suited for: the party animals
Forget dinner for 2. Go on a date to the Adelaide Fringe, which kicks off on Valentine’s Day. From 14 February to 15 March, the world’s second-largest annual arts festival takes over SA with a great range of shows, from comedy and magic to cabaret and dance performances.

3. Say cheese
Best suited for: the family
You met, fell in love and, years later, you’re still going strong. That’s the fairy tale ending most people dream of. Now it’s time to put your love under the lens and capture special memories together.
Dust off your best outfits, comb the little one’s hair, then head to a professional photography studio. You’ll be creating sweet memories that’ll last a lifetime.
RAA member exclusive: Get 30% off photography at Gainsborough Studio.
4. Stay in bed
Best suited for: the cynics
Sick of love? We won’t judge you if you choose to spend the year’s most loved-up day in bed. We understand: Valentine’s Day can be overwhelming – roses, chocolates, public displays of affection. Someone please pass the bucket.
If you haven’t found the right person yet, never fear – Netflix and your bed are the answer. We’re already counting sheep as we write this.
RAA member exclusive: Comfort should be a priority. In need of a new bed or linen? Just show your card at Snooze to get 40% off regular prices, or 5% off already discounted prices, until 16 February.
5. Get sparkly
Best suited for: anyone. After all, diamonds are everyone’s best friend, right?
Okay, wedding bells may not be ringing, but Valentine’s Day calls for a shiny gift. Take your pick from watches, necklaces, earrings and much more. Who knows, maybe ‘I do’ isn’t too far away after all.
RAA member exclusive: Check out the sparkly range at Class A Jewellers and get 10% off jewellery.
