Have you blown a fuse, got a blocked toilet or been locked out of the house? You can now call RAA to fix issues in the home, just as you can when there’s a problem with your car.

Trade Assist is a new service from RAA, which allows members and non-members to book tradies for routine repairs during business hours; or, if it’s an emergency, we’re here 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

RAA Trade Assist is available to fix problems with plumbing, electrics, locks, gutters, roofing, general home maintenance and more – and at a discounted price for members.

‘Just like Road Service for your car, RAA will be there when you need us at your home – because homes break down too,’ says RAA spokesperson Kerry Bowles.

There are many benefits of using an RAA Trade Assist tradie, including a guarantee they’re fully licensed to do the job – and at a competitive price.

All Trade Assist tradies have passed a police check, have certificates of insurance and use an RAA-endorsed price list for labour and material charges.

‘Research showed our members had four main concerns when hiring a tradesperson: uncertainty, inconvenience, professionalism and price,’ says Ms Bowles.

‘We’ve been able to solve all of these concerns by taking the uncertainty out of the process, making sure the price is transparent and by working with a group of tradespeople who’ve been specially chosen by RAA to offer this service.’

Trade Assist emergency call-outs will see a tradesperson arrive at the house within two hours of the call being placed, while non-emergency calls will allow members to nominate a time and date for the repairs to be completed.

Prices will be transparent and negotiated before each job begins, meaning no hidden costs after the job is done. RAA members will also get 20 per cent off the cost of labour.

This new service is currently available in the metro area (approximately 15km from the city). We’re planning to expand the service area soon and will keep members updated.
