From pig racing to watching the RAA Fireworks at night, there are plenty of free – and fun – activities to keep the whole family entertained at the Royal Adelaide Show.
1. #Agsplorer Track
When: Every day
Where: #Agsplorers HQ, Farmyard Nursery
The #Agsplorers Track will keep your children entertained for hours as they see the sights at the Royal Adelaide Show, completing ag-tivities and earning rewards along the way.
Collect your free #Agsplorers Track guides and bags from BankSA #Agsplorers HQ, just outside the Farmyard Nursery.
Once the booklet is stamped at each location, it can be returned to #Agsplorers HQ for a chance to win a family pass to the 2019 Royal Adelaide Show.
2. Pig racing and diving
When: Daily at 10.30am, noon, 1pm, 2pm, 4pm and 5pm
Where: Western Entertainment Arena
Arrive early to the Western Entertainment Arena, because crowds flock to see the pig racing and diving.
Six times a day, the piglets line up in their barriers and race around the course to the delight and squeals of the crowd.
The main event features one little piggy climbing to the top of a diving platform and leaping into the pool below.
3. Ice cream eating competition
When: Daily at 1.30pm
Where: Golden North Stage
Can you eat a delicious tub of ice cream in less than two minutes? If you can, the Golden North Ice Cream eating competition might be for you.
Each day, 5 lucky people, selected from the crowd, will battle it out to see who can finish a 1L tub of vanilla ice cream the quickest, with the winner receiving a $50 Golden North voucher.
The fastest eater over the 10-day Royal Adelaide Show will win a year’s supply of Golden North Ice Cream valued at $500.
4. Lights – camera – action!
When: Daily at 11am, 1pm, 3pm and 6pm
Where: Goyder Stage
Slapstick antics, a bubbly director and acrobatic crew will wow the crowds at this year’s 2018 Royal Adelaide Show as part of Lights – Camera – Action!
A cast of more than 20 dancers and acrobats will take the audience on a whimsical journey, bringing to life 10 well-loved movie genres during the 30-minute free show.
5. RAA Fireworks
Where: Main Arena
When: 8pm every night except Fridays and Saturdays at 9pm
End your day at the Royal Adelaide Show with a bang. The pyromusical RAA Firework display will feature 45 firing positions to create a spectacular view from any angle.
New fireworks include white glitter strobing dahlias with twilight glitter tails and white strobing mines.
6. Cuddle the cute animals
When: Daily, from 9am to 8pm
Where: BankSA Farmyard Nursery
You haven’t properly experienced the show until you’ve cuddled a cute baby chick or stood near a sheep or goat.
The main aviary will have plenty of our feathered friends – including ducks, chicks, swans, geese and pigeons.
7. Milk a cow
Where: Dairy Cattle Pavilion
When: Daily at 10am, 11.30am, 1pm, 3pm, and 4.30pm
At the Legendairy Milking Barn (pun intended), you can see how cows are milked and give it a try yourself.
Once the cow is milked, you can learn how butter and soft-curd cheese is prepared.

8. Look out for the RAA Rangers
Where: Main Arena
When: During the nightshift
Look out for pops of bright yellow in the Main Arena, as our ambassadors – the RAA Rangers – will be out and about looking to make the day of some lucky show-goers.
RAA members also get 15% off the gate price when they pre-purchase a family or concession ticket online.
