With everything on this month, it’s not surprising March is flying by. There are, however, a few events left on our calendar before SA’s busiest month draws to an end.
1. Cellar Door Fest 2019
When: 15–17 March
Where: Adelaide Convention Centre
How do you feel about a trip to the Barossa or a cruise to the Clare Valley? We’re spoilt for choice in South Australia when it comes to wining and dining in beautiful places.
As nice as it is to hit the open road, you can save yourself the car ride this weekend by exploring all 17 of SA’s regions under one roof at Cellar Door Fest. Now that sounds like an epic food and wine tour to raise your glass to.

2. Ultimate Speedway Challenge
When: 16 March
Where: Murray Machining & Sheds Speedway, Murray Bridge
Superloop Adelaide 500 has zoomed to a finish, but there’s another racing event getting car enthusiasts revved up.
There are 3 categories in the Ultimate Speedway Challenge – sprint cars, late models and speed cars.
Behind the wheel of these high-powered race cars are professional drivers vying to take out the prize money and, of course, the title of the Ultimate Speedway Challenger.
3. Copper Coast Miniature Train Rides
When: 17 March (1st and 3rd Sunday each month)
Where: The Farm Shed Museum & Tourist Centre, Yorke Peninsula
All aboard! That’s your final call to sit and enjoy a rail ride that’s different to your usual Adelaide Metro journey, on a miniature train handmade by Copper Coast Region Old Machinery and Engineering Club.
Departing from Kadina’s Matta Flat Station, these miniature machines embark on a trip around the equally minuscule railway.
Hear all about how these pint-sized trains are made and, don’t worry, they may be small but they’re suitable to ride for all ages.
4. Circus Rio Mount Gambier
When: 22–31 March
Where: Mount Gambier Showgrounds
World-renowned circus performers make their way from Brazil’s seaside city of Rio to SA’s Limestone Coast this month.
Sit white-knuckled and on the edge of your seat as you gaze up at aerialists flying from the roof of the Big Top, watch FMX (freestyle motocross) riders soar across the stage and tightrope walkers step meticulously through mid-air.
These superhuman displays of physical strength are just as awe-inspiring as they are death-defying.
5. Stirling Laneways
When: 24 March
Where: Stirling, Adelaide Hills
Each month, Stirling’s stunning streetscape comes to life during the Adelaide Hills’ mini market series, Stirling Laneways.
At the next market on 24 March, you can browse the colourful array of pop-up stalls for homewares and local produce and, when your feet need a rest, stop to watch entertaining street performers put on a show.
