From 6–21 July, keep the kids entertained with our 14-day school holiday activity list. Prepare yourself for hippos, alpacas, treetop climbing and much-needed coffee.
Day 1: Kick off the holidays
Whether your little ones are the ‘pride of South Australia’ or have ‘the power to win’, Round 16 will be a match not to miss. See Port Adelaide take on the Adelaide Crows at the Adelaide Oval for the Showdown on 6 July – the first official day of school holidays. Free a couple of days after the big game? Your little one could win 1 of 30 spots at the RAA Junior Football Clinic, hosted by Eddie Betts. Enter the competition for a chance to win before entries close on Monday, 24 June.
Day 2: Go to the movies
Kick off the winter break with a trip to the cinema – the quintessential school holiday must-do.
Day 3: Bowl a strike
A timeless favourite, 10 pin bowling never gets old. See who can rack up the most strikes and spares to be crowned the family bowling champion.
Day 4: Throw a party… without lifting a finger
Forget birthdays – the start of the school holidays is reason enough to celebrate. Throw the ultimate school holiday celebration without having to organise it yourself. The experts at Games2U will plan fun activities for the kids, from laser tag to bubble soccer. That’s bound to keep little partygoers happy.
Day 5: Teach the kids to cook
By day 5, a part of you probably wishes the kids were back at school! To get them out of the house, book a cooking lesson with Scoffed Cooking School. Under the guidance of Scoffed chefs, kids as young as 5 can learn how to make chicken paella, spring rolls from scratch and even a croquembouche. The bonus? You’ll have a little helper when it comes to whipping up dinner.
Day 6: Prepare for theme park fun
In search of some sunshine? Head further afield to Queensland and treat your kids to some theme park fun. Use your RAA card to save on theme park passes. Watch the kids take on as many rollercoasters and waterslides as they can handle!
Day 7: You’re halfway there. Here’s something to get you through to day 14.
Coffee, coffee and more coffee. Need we say more?
Day 8: Bounce off the walls
Put that built-up energy to good use at BOUNCE – a massive indoor adventure park with more than 50 interconnected trampolines.
Day 9: When they say, ‘can we get a dog?’
If boredom’s set in by day 9, your kids might request a cuddly companion. When pets don’t quite cut it, head straight to the zoo for a furry friend fix. Just remind them that they can’t take the hippo home.
Day 10: Or ‘…what about an alpaca?’
Get up close to alpacas, kangaroos, koalas and endangered marsupials at Softfoot Alpaca Farm and wildlife sanctuary in Hindmarsh Valley, near Victor Harbor. Explore the farm’s 600 acres in an ATV buggy, join a guided tour or take an adorable alpaca for a walk.
RAA member exclusive: Book a 2-hour alpaca tour at Softfoot to learn all about alpacas. Explore the property’s shearing shed and enjoy homemade morning tea.
Day 11: Climb trees – safely
Adelaide’s aerial adventure park – TreeClimb – takes tree climbing to a new level. Featuring more than 70 obstacles including courses designed for children, thrill-seekers can safely swing, leap, climb and fly through the trees. Note: your little one will need to be at least 100cm tall to climb.
Day 12: Let off some steam
‘Are we there yet?’ Four words you probably won’t hear on a trip aboard any of SteamRanger Heritage Railway’s trains. Sit back and relax on a steam train travelling from the southern Mt Lofty Ranges through the coastal towns of Goolwa, Port Elliot and Victor Harbor.

Day 13: Do your bit for the environment
By now, fatigue is probably setting in, both for you and the little ones! Rest those sore feet with a relaxing sightseeing tour around Adelaide aboard an EcoCaddy – a snazzy zero-emission electric trike.
There’s even an EcoCaddy cruise specifically for children, which includes stops at the best parks, playgrounds and historic points.
RAA member exclusive: Save 5% on an EcoCaddy Kids Cruise.
Day 14: Lap up the last day
Enjoy the last day of the school holidays on a relaxing paddle boat cruise along Adelaide’s beautiful River Torrens.
Before you know it, the school bell will ring, bidding farewell to the school holidays for another term.
RAA member exclusive: Save 5% on a paddle boat experience on the Torrens.
